A soul of fire

I longed to write
A poem
About your soul
But all my rhythms
And rhymes
All my patterns
And tones;
They failed me
As I realized
That words
Can not capture
Your soul;
Words failed me
For a child’s blanket
Can not
Take captive
An ocean
And I gave up
Quite complacently
For you are a fire
And my fingers blistered
Because I tried to
Hold you
In my wooden hands
